Camera Mounts > Types> Studio Pedestal

Studio pedestals can go up or down VERY smoothly. But the range is somewhat limited--they can't go below about 3 feet, or above about 6.

STUDIO PEDESTAL:
These monsters have three wheels, a telescoping body, and the capability of holding a 500 pound camera.

A good studio pedestal will allow you to execute amazingly complex camera moves with ease—but what would you expect from a device that costs more than a late-model car? The weakness of studio pedestals is they can't get very low angle shots. But how often do you need a low angle shot of Oprah?

And as you might expect, a studio pedestal would be too big an bulky to use on a field shoot--like a beached whale.
