Even large thick-font text is sometimes hard to see on television--depending on the background. The common solution is something called a "drop shadow." A drop shadow makes the letters stand out better, plus it makes them a little bit 3-dimensional.
Drop shadows can do wonders to make words more readable on screen. The top word has no drop shadow. The bottom word does have a drop shadow. Which is easier to read?
