You have seen this a million times (literally!), but here it is again, a "cut."

A "transition" is simply the technique you use to get from one shot to the next. We will look at the three basic transitions: the cut, the dissolve, and the wipe.

THE CUT:
A "cut" is simply an instant change from one shot to another. It's not fancy, but it is the right transition 90 percent of the time. A lot of amateurs want to use more fancy transitions, but even Spielberg uses a simple cut 90 percent of the time.
