Famous film director Alfred Hitchcock once took a moment to illustrate this powerful point about film editing. In this clip, he uses words like “pure cinematics” that don’t mean a whole lot today, but the illustrations are still terrific. It’s about a minute long, and Hitchcock shows just how easy it is to make a kindly grandpa look like a not-so-nice old man (or vice versa).
