Panning
Beginning shooters tend to pan a bit too much. Most shots should be locked off shots with no panning (and no zooming). The only time for beginning shooters to pan is to follow an object that’s moving.
The example below follows two men as they walk left-to-right. Note that the camera movement is smooth, not jerky—and the men have lead room in the direction they are moving. This kind of move looks simple, but it takes practice
