Diagonal Lines
Diagonal lines are also important when things are moving in the frame. Avoid horizontal movement across the frame—for the reasons already discussed. Instead the goal is diagonal movement.
TOWARD/AWAY
There is a surefire technique to ensure this always happens: make sure the object moves toward or away from the camera.
Get close to the object's path and let it go right by the camera. The result is a quality, dynamic shot.
In the sample shot at the right, the couple passes within a foot of the camera. Because they’re close, it’s a more dynamic shot. But people tend to give cameras a wide berth, so direct them to walk close.
Toward/Away
Subjects won't naturally want to walk this close to the camera—so instruct them specifically where to walk.
