PREFACE

Most beginners are amazed at how much time and energy goes into lighting for television and film. It's hard to fathom (unless you have been on a professional shoot) how many lights are necessary to create a quality image.

Right now you may be thinking "I don't have to worry too much about lights because my camera gets a good image without lights."

But that's flawed thinking, because quality lighting is not about getting ENOUGH light on the subject. Rather the focus is getting the right KIND of light in exactly the right place.

Knowing how to manipulate light is truly the hallmark of professional production.
