Production 101
Lets run down some typical lighting problems--and potential solutions.
PROBLEM 1--SUNNY DAY:
You are shooting a person at noon on a sunny day. Their face is covered with ugly hard shadows, and their eyes have disappeared into dark sockets. What can you do? There are at least 3 solutions:
1) One simple solution is a bounce card (which was demonstrated earlier in this lesson). In effect, it creates a fill light, which brightens the dark areas.
2) Alternately, you could use an artificial light in this situation--it's just that you might need a very long extension cord!
3) A third solution would be to move your subject to a nearby shady location.
Lighting Problems
Ouch! The sun can create some awful lighting problems... especially on a sunny day.
